fantastic! although jerry does not seem amused. i wonder what he thought about that type of intellectual/bohemian performance art and fluxus and john cage and......very interesting indeed. i would love to know what he said when it was over. (the audience sure didn’t understand it...) also interesting charlotte moorman played the beatles as yoko was her roommate. cudos to merv for having her on.
thanks so much for putting up this clip.

Thanks for posting but boy did that bomb. I was more interested in who was on the panel-it looks like Shelly Winters and Charlie Callas but hard to tell-any more clips from that Merv Griffin Show?

it depends what you mean by ‘bombed’. as an avantgarde fluxus performance art piece, it stands on it’s own by challenging ‘normal’ music boundaries etc. what makes it appear to ‘bomb’ is the bewilderment of the audience who can only laugh at it’s unfamiliarity/uncomfortableness. ironcially, film critics have said the same about much of lewis’ comedy. he too was uncomfortable, outside of his milieu...but enough of an Artist that i wonder if he appreciated it on it’s own merits. he, more than others, should’ve appreciated an artist being ridiculed or criticized for misunderstood work......
