thanks so much for posting your translations and article links. ( i think the ‘skin folder’ must mean leather briefcase. lol ) i believe i’ve read the last article you mention...i found it through my local library database. nice work. Yes, a leather briefcase would be more accurate, haha! The article just mentioned it as a folder, so that's what I went with. Sorry about that! I have bought the "new" article and will post it in a few days. I will also scan the pages.

I recieved it today. Should I put it on a downloadable file instead of just pasting it here as a post?

Jessica: If it is a long article, I'd recommend a downloadable file.

Here it is: The Day the Clown Cried - SE Magazine 1974.pdf (409.26 KB) Here is the scan: The pages were bigger than my scanner so I had to edit and put them together. The original resolution are around 8 000 px, so I had to reduce it to be able to upload it.

Thanks!!! Well I wonder if they meant that actress was not wanting to stay in JL's actual bedroom or one he had paid for. This just alludes to him trying to have an affair with her, and her rejecting him. Then in usual Jerry fashion, him writing her out of the role. He had done that previously. But for them to report on this if this was true, is shocking. Hopefully they just meant she didn't want to stay in the room he had set up for her.
I feel bad for the reporter who was trying to take photos on the set for Waschberger, but Jerry was pretty pissed off at Waschberger.
This has amazing details! Including Jerry's feelings on Waschberger at the time, which he never liked to talk about later on.

Including Jerry's feelings on Waschberger at the time, which he never liked to talk about later on. You're welcome! Yeah, same here. They specifically mention the bedroom, but it is unclear if they just meant her own rented one or the same room as Jerry nor do they mentioned who the actress is. I hope it's what you say, that they mean the rented bedroom. I don't like either how they write it as if they were facts. Also the way they write that Jerry was in such a state on set he could kill anyone linked to Wachsberger. It seems a little overdramatic, although I'm pretty sure he was really pissed. It seems we are getting closer to the truth of this production and why Jerry rarely wanted to talk about it.

I wonder if it was Jeanne Moreau who was supposed to play his wife then dropped out.

@ Classickat: Why do you say that? Do you have any evidence that Jeanne Moreau was up for the role?

According to the book "Golden Turkey Awards" by Michael Medved, Moreau had been offered the role of the clown's wife, but declined. The role then went to Harriet Andersson. I read this in an article I found online that seemed to have been written in the 90s. I'm not sure if she was the same actress who were written out. It's possible. It also said Andersson had no issues during the making of the film.

As Jessica said there have been multiple articles saying she was up for the role, and my friend Anthony Tringali who is doing the screenplay and researching has discussed Jeanne Moreau before. But anyway, last night I found a documentary Jeanne Moreau did where she was talking to Orson Welles, and to Jerry during his planning of the project and she seemed very interested in looking through all of Jerry's work and discussing everything with him. Part of it was French dubbed but you could mostly hear what everyone was saying. It sounded like she told him that she wanted to be in the film. Jerry was in awe and seemed very honored. He also seemed a little flirty, towards her toward the end, but he usually is with everyone. lol I'm still putting the captions on the interview that Denise helped me with, so that shall be uploaded first. I need to figure out what is being said in French in this interview.

I noticed I hadn't posted this. The article has similar content as the others as it was made from the same press conferance when Jerry arrived in Stockholm. I will translate this aswell if interested. Attachments:
