It might be unnecessary to create a new thread for every article because they're so many (unless their the big ones) so I thought I'd post a bunch of them here. Feel free to discuss. All of them are in high resolution. 1. Cigarette Ad with Dean and Jerry (1952) 2. Martin and Lewis' last Show (1956) 3. Article written by Jerry (1948) 4. Top Comedians guests local theater manager (1952) 5. News of Jerry's collapse on the set of Cinderfella (1959) 6. A Clown can be Serious (1976) 7. On the set of Delicate Delinquent (1956) 8. On the set of Three on a Couch (1966) 9. Jerry Lewis Still a Kid at Heart (1962) 10. Question on why Jerry is wearing his wedding band in "That's My Boy" (1952) (Which he basically did in every movie, haha)

Lol I'm still in the process of reading these, but I'm amused that in the one clipping on That's My Boy, they referred to movie goofs as "boners" 🤣
That article on Dean and Jerry's last show talks about the performance more in detail than I've seen in other articles, yet glosses over the backstage stuff after the show, which articles went more heavily into, and showed that Dean and Jerry were in each other's dressing rooms and feeling some heavy emotions.

Haha, yeah. Imagine a headline of today's newspapers writig: "Movie boner of te week". It would have a different meaning. True. The atmosphere must have been so tense backstage that the audience didn't see.

Here is one from January, 1957 which details a little more of what followed M&L's last show and their break up.

Here is one from January, 1957 which details a little more of what followed M&L's last show and their break up. Great article, I do believe that this version is how it went down, with them crying and embracing each other in their dressing room. There have been other articles to confirm this.

Jerry was surrounded by several friends after that last show with Dean - Dick Stabile (who later stated that Jerry cried for 3 straight hours), Nanette Fabray, Joe DiMaggio, Sammy, others. Of course Patti was home in LA with the kids - Scott was only about 5 months old. I think there were so many people there because they were afraid Jerry might do something foolish to himself, out of his despair and grief. They kept an eye on him. He finally had to be given an injection to calm him. I think that's when Dean stepped in - he was the only medicine Jerry needed or wanted.

This is one I find interesting and would like to hear your thoughts. Here Jerry talks about the multiple Jerrys, which he has done in many interviews. He also says that he is schizophrenic. Was it an overexageration to use that term, a joke, confusion? The article also mentions that he was seeing a psychoatrist due to his "split personality". It is known he struggled, so the fact that he was seeing a psychoatrist isn't so strange, but you don't often hear about it.

No, Jerry wasn’t schizophrenic. I’ve worked with the truly mentally ill for over twenty years. That’s not Jerry. However, the celebrity persona vs the real person has to be difficult to navigate. I do believe Jerry sought treatment at the end with Dean. Probably again with the drug addiction but less is documented regarding that.

Also a thought on the mda footage where he’s craving ice cream. I think he’s upset bc someone took his ice cream out of the fridge. That’s not a clean person doing that. He actually states something about withdrawals there....and I’m always like “oh no” . So I don’t know how clean he actually was. It doesn’t matter, just a thing though.....

I was a little surprised when they mentioned schizophrenia, especially when it's said he was seeking treatment for it. I guess they said that because Jerry would seperate the silly and serious sides of him. This was written in the early 80s, he was divorcing Patti and filed for bankruptcy. There were probably lots of things on his mind.

I think it's more likely that he had bi-polar disorder. My friend Kayla who has that issue, has said many times that it seems Jerry was suffering from that issue. He definitely had the paranoid thoughts at times. There were notes sold on ebay that he had written in 1954, that seemed like he was having a paranoid episode, and the writing was all over the place and seemed frantic a bit. I think Patti had left at that time, and he was definitely trying to figure out how to "cut the cord" with Dean and even Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis.
Also I had no idea until the other day, when I read in an article, that Jerry's doctor at one time was the notorious Dr. Feelgood who was basically injecting everyone in Hollywood with meth. I'm sure that didn't help his state of mind.... I mean I knew he took uppers and downers, but didn't know about this. He also did cocaine at some point, because Patti found it along with the pot.

Lots of Benzedrine flowing. Jerry mentions his doctor giving him shots while writing/filming the bellboy. Great point about bi polar and amphetimine breaks. Not schizophrenic. He wouldn’t have been able to hold it together. It’s vicious and progressive.
