A decent analysis of Martin and Lewis. I think the author in this means that Betty and Patti were good friends, not Jeanne and Patti. "At their worst, Martin and Lewis movies indulge in various degrees of patented, decade-specific casual sexism and inexcusable yellow-face racism, scoring the sort of cheap situational laugh that in retrospect would both foretell and mar their solo careers from staying relevant past their own generation." I disagree, because everyone on this forum and most of their fans who I have met online, are not of their generation. Jerry has Asian fans, that went to his shows, and I'm sure saw his films with those moments in them. They certainly laughed at his Asian jokes, when I was in the audience. The same goes for Dean and female fans, if we're referring to sexist jokes. www.brightwalldarkroom.com/2021/03/10/martin-and-lewis/
