What do we think about this Suzan Lewis story and why this part of the story was never included in Inside Edition or Howard Stern's show where it would have shown Jerry in a little more favorable light?  Now I believe that either Gary Lewis and their manager (Jerry’s former manager) Rick Sapphire manipulated Suzan into making it seem like Jerry had nothing to do with her besides that one time she saw him in the 80′s, and not letting her tell her whole story. She has told this version elsewhere. This scenario is supported because Rick had an axe to grind with Jerry firing him for mismanaging funds, so he has been making Jerry look like a bad guy ever since. Or Suzan just left it out of the Howard Stern and Inside Edition appearances by accident or editing. |

I think this version should be highlighted. Here Suzan talks about Jerry as being very loving when they got together, while on Inside Edition, it's not brought up at all. They just make it seem like they never met. They talk briefly about her current situation and then, of course, the inheritance. So yeah, seems weird to me.

I posted this on Tumblr, but I'll post it here, too.
I have a problem with the story about the Academy of Dramatic Art. I mean, who is going to enroll a two year old child in a school like that, many years in advance, not even knowing if she would even want to go there or have the talent for it? Something here just does not ring true. She likely never went there at all. An article in the NY Daily News in Dec. 1970, announcing her upcoming wedding, mentions the schools she attended, but does not mention the AADA at all.
Another point: This story makes it appear that Suzan knew as a child that Jerry was her father, when in other accounts, she did not find this out until she was an adult. Her mother finally told her when she (the mother) thought she was dying of cancer. |

I don't think she is trying to say that she knew he was her father then in this version, just that she remembers he was in her life and she put it together years later.
But you're right about her being a toddler in a school like that. They certainly don't allow children anywhere close to that age in. But perhaps she got the age wrong, and like Jerry isn't good with dates and ages. lol The whole thing always is bizarre and shady. I'm pretty sure Rick Sapphire and Gary Lewis dumped her, when it was clear that she was still suffering from mental illness. Is that why her sons are distant from her as well? Perhaps.... I mean the husband and his family tried to put her in a mental hospital. I think this was before the accident that supposedly left her disabled?

So it's not known how severe her mental illness is? No one talks about other people close to her or why they aren't in her life.

Yeah I think people just assumed it was from the accident, but seems like she had problems before. No one asks these questions about why she is alone. Everyone is quick to judge Jerry, but Gary dropped her pretty quickly after the publicity died down. I can't believe everyone would somehow be cold hearted and leave her in the streets. There has to be a reason why everyone including her own sons, don't help. Perhaps her problems are why Jerry distanced himself after that 80's meeting. I'm not saying what he did was right, but we simply don't know the situation. It pains me that many people are so quick to judge both sides of the situation, and not have a middle ground on this. On one side there are the people that are totally on Suzan's side, and think Jerry is evil for abandoning her. Then you've got Jerry's fans/friends trying to make her out to be completely crazy or not his daughter. It upset me to see that at the old forum. Like she took the dna test, she is his daughter, if you didn't see it from the looks alone, geez. That's just ridiculous. But my point is there needs to be more understanding of both sides, for the majority of people out there commenting on this situation.

It just seems odd that she doesn't seem to have anyone and that she has refused help. Something's not right. I agree with you that there needs to be more understanding and that there are many factors that have caused it, we just don't know it. I hope we'll get some more information. |

It seems like she has given two versions as to what happened after their 1980 meeting. First, she said that she called Jerry and his wife (I assume she was referring to Sandee, as Jerry and Patti were going through a divorce) picked up and told her she'd give him a message. Appearently, they didn't talk long before he hung up.
In the second one, she said she called Jerry just a day after their meeting, but was told by Jerry's manager to not contact him anymore.
Either way, we're not certain about the whole situation.
