So I heard last year that Scott Lewis had planned on making a documentary. I'm not sure if he still plans on completing since his videos that he clearly meant to have in the documentary are on youtube. A lot Super 8 footage from home movies, which seem to have all been filmed by Joseph Lewis. Interviews with Scott and Anthony are in some videos, as well as interviews with those who knew Jerry. There is a video of Anthony visiting Patti in the nursing home, and in another video Scott explains that Anthony and his wife Patty Ascher, are not welcome there to the nursing home facility, so how Anthony gets in there suddenly I'm not sure. It's clearly the first time he has visited in the video. Another interesting video is talking to a psychiatrist about Jerry's issues and diagnosing him.
This is the video where Dr. Steven Handwerker PHD, discusses Jerry's life and diagnoses his mental state. I agree with everything in this interview except him saying that Jerry didn't have remorse or try to better himself. Jerry did have remorse and at least attempted to work on himself and be better. He did try and he did feel guilt. That much is clear in most of the letters he wrote to Patti and the one to himself. Even in interviews he is always talking about feelings? So yes I disagree, but this doctor probably did not see those letters or interviews to see Jerry in that light. Dr. Handwerker states that Jerry was mentally ill and he thinks he had borderline personality disorder. I would agree. If anyone can tell me what the heck "Jerry was the feeling he became" means, I would appreciate it. lol
Scott reminisces with a school friend, and mentions the family and Jerry. Scott mentions to his friend that he would love to tell his father how much he loves him, and that he's come far from a place he used to be regarding that basically. Two versions of the "pitch" clip
Anthony talks about Scott. I was intrigued by the odd statement, "Scotty can be pretty demonic at times... all of us can." lol
Scott goes to the pet cemetery to visit his pets.
Joseph Lewis dog food commercial (home made)
Scott interview (brief)
Scott sings Christmas song and has a pretty decent singing voice. Dare I say better than Gary's? (I'm a fan of Gary's music btw, but he isn't that great of a singer)
Jerry's sons (presumably Anthony and Scott) laugh at and discuss why Jerry appeared on a cooking show.
Scott and friends discuss Jerry
Assortment of family/friend home movies involving Joseph
Jerry, Patti, and other son Ronnie appear in this footage
Jerry plays basketball with kids, and tells Joseph that he loves him
Patti appears in this home movie with a bunch of different kids, and Jerry is seen in one shot, filming the kids playing.
Scott, Chris, Anthony, and Joseph are seeing playing in the pool, with Patti watching.
Anthony goes to visit Patti in the nursing facility. This made me incredibly sad seeing Patti like that. Also my disgust for Anthony coming to visit, after his actions toward his mother are also cringeworthy to me.
Scott at Grauman's. He discusses Jerry's Oscar and the Grauman's honor.
Scott discusses the Telethon
Scott talks about his father briefly with his barber
Another video of Scott talking:
Anthony rants about Jerry not wanting any children. This pissed me off because that couldn't have been further from the truth. In every interview throughout the 50's-60's, Jerry was always discussing having more children, and wanting to adopt more. He was always talking about this. Does that sound like a man that doesn't want or need children?
A video that shows a bunch of Jerry's photo albums, etc
Scott recalls experience at The Sands (brief)
Scott asks about necessity to see his mother Patti, and says that he doesn't like going alone. Mentions that Anthony and his wife Patty Ascher aren't welcome there.
This sounds like Jerry talking behind the camera in a funny voice to Joseph, but not sure.
Jerry, Patti, and Jerry's parents Danny and Rae appear in this video, talking to Joseph behind the camera. The exchange between Jerry and Joseph is cute.
